Borosini’s Known Operatic Appearances
What follows is a list of the operas in which sources clearly indicate Borosini’s participation. Along with the title of each opera is given the composer, the date of the first performance (approximate if not otherwise determinant), the city in which the performance took place, and the role in which Borosini appeared (if known). This list is by no means exhaustive; there were a great many works performed for the Viennese court in which Borosini’s participation can be assumed but for which this author has not yet found documentary evidence. During Borosini’s tenure at court, at least twenty-three of Antonio Caldara’s theatrical works were performed in various imperial venues at times when Borosini was not traveling; without examining performing scores or libretti, this author has been able to connect Borosini conclusively with only three of these works. In addition to the operas he sang numerous other works, sacred and secular, including serenatas, oratorios, and liturgical compositions.
